The Airpods Max are Insanely Incredible
- 29 Jan, 2021
Apple’s entry into the swiftly emerging category of noise-canceling headphones was inevitable, and the new Airpods Max lives up to the company's usual high standards. With a luxurious build, elegant soundstage, and clever computational features, the AirPods Max is excellent noise-canceling headphones. But it's hard to overlook the 720 AUD price and the unconventional scenario.

Design - The new generation of AirPods
The AirPods Max comes in a fun color range that exhibits a retro look, unlike the AirPods earbuds, which are encased in white plastic. The ear cups are covered with oval pillows of memory foam that are not bulging and create a spongy, comfortable seal around the ears. They are connected by a 7.4 x 6.6 x 3.3-inch, stainless steel frame with slim arms that expand at the top for a mesh headband. Further, they are noticeably heftier at 13.6 ounces.
In the case of AirPods Max, Apple made a clever attempt to borrow and enlarge the Apple Watch's Digital Crown. The crown is used on the AirPods Max for volume control, skipping tracks, playing or pausing music, summon Siri, and answer or terminate telephone calls similar to how it provides navigation for Apple's smartwatch.
The other button on the right side is used for noise cancellation and transparency mode. So, then where's the power button for AirPods Max? There isn't one. However, when earbuds are stationary or in the magnetic smart case, they kick into low-power mode. But Apple still should have provided a way to completely power down the AirPods Max for the users.
Welcome to the apple family
In terms of connectivity, if you are an iPhone or iPad user, the pairing will be seamless. However, things can get frustrating once you move outside the Apple ecosystem of Mac models and devices. Nonetheless, using Mac has also resulted in problems with phone calls and distorted audio sometimes. For Windows PC and Android device users, switching between devices each time involves manual input and may be tiresome.
How are they competing with their competitors?
Whether it is AirPods Max, Bose 700, or WH-1000XM4 from Sony, there is no lack of over-ear, active noise-canceling headphones to choose from. But AirPods Max’s review and analysis show it as the newest and shiniest one in the market, but with a hefty price tag. The AirPods Max has a lot of work to do to stand next to the other competitors to justify the investment. In a comparison of price, design, and features, you should put all three pairs of leading headphones head-to-head to see which pair is the best wireless headphones for you.
Some may choose the AirPods Max because of the brilliant sound quality, effective noise-canceling, and Spatial Audio features such that they could spend the money and be happy. These headphones are also competitive on design and specs, even if there are some odd omissions like the 3.5mm jack. However, the other top competitors such as Sony with WH-1000XM4 cannot be overlooked. These can go toe-to-toe on sound quality, design, and comfort with the Bose 700, while handily beating them on affordability and battery life. AirPods Max may be a valid option for money-no-objects, but a better value for money is the Sony WH-1000XM4.
Biggest Question- Is AirPods Max worth the price?
AirPods Max’s price is worth it only if you place an emphasis on getting a pair of headphones linked into the Apple ecosystem. Put clearly, they don't sound like a 700 AUD pair of headphones and are totally above average and compare favorably with many common versions, falling short only at the price point.
That said, the design and built are outstanding. The audio is good and goes a long way towards introducing us to Hi-Fi. And the close iOS integration is far from what third parties might even hope for. How to control them via Siri, adjust them in the Control Center, the ability to automatically switch between your devices, the easy setup process, and the fantastic 100-foot range are all invaluable additions to a set of headphones. And lastly, spatial audio is the highlight making the streaming experience unparalleled as compared to any other headphones.
If you are buying headphones purely for the audio quality, an array of useful features, gorgeous design, and brand loyalty, the AirPods Max worth the splurge.
The best Apple headphones are undoubtedly the AirPods Max, but it's a pity that they're not in a price range that is worth the features. However, many AirPods Max reviews say that these headphones fill out the Apple ecosystem in a way that we didn't think we cared about, and people are having a hard time wanting some other over-ear headphones right now. It is difficult to beat the combination of cushy comfort, powerful audio quality, and awesome features. But, it goes without saying that the AirPods Max also has a few caveats. If you can look past these, the AirPods Max is your ticket to listening luxury.
