Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro: The new flagship with amazing refresh rate and battery life?
- 15 Oct, 2020
Are you the kind of user who clicks multiple pictures in a day? Are you the kind of user who opens several apps simultaneously? Are you the kind of use who craves for long battery life? The answers are most likely to be YES!
When it comes to buying a new phone, some might prefer to have the biggest display possible along with the most advanced specifications whereas some may want solid mid-range phones which deliver all the basics without burning a hole in the pocket. But what if you are getting the best features at low price?
Xiaomi has launched the Mi 10T and the new line-up will feature the Mi 10T Pro. The latest powerhouse by Xiaomi, the Mi 10T Pro will be here to stay. The announcement of the device saw the same strategy seen last year where the Mi 9 which was followed by the Mi 9T pro with a much greater emphasis on the specifications. The Mi 9T Pro was amongst the best phones last year in the market, so we have really high expectations for the new Mi 10T Pro.
Selling Points: High refresh rates and battery life
The two brilliant specifications of the Mi 10T Pro are the screens with high refresh rates and powerful battery life, absolutely the best one has to offer. Mi 10T Pro comprises a 6.67-inch 1080p 20:9 LCD and a refresh rate of 144Hz. Can you believe this?
If you don’t understand the concept of refresh rate, in simple words, refresh rate can be defined as the count of how many times the screen refreshes the image in one second and is measured in Hz. For instance, if your refresh rate is 60Hz, your display is redrawing the same picture or pushing the same frame 60 times every second. Imagine the Mi 10T Pro with a refresh rate of 144Hz. Though refresh rates have been around for a while, it’s only for the last few years that it has successfully transitioned to the phones. This refresh rate in Mi 10T Pro is something one would expect from an advanced and high-end gaming monitor. Such a high refresh rate has till now been found only on gaming-focused smartphones, making this the most mainstream phone yet to achieve. In addition to this, the screen also uses an LCD panel and the fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button rather than the display.
Coming to the battery, Xiaomi has managed to fit a 5,000mAh pack in the Mi 10T Pro, which is much ahead of even the top devices right now. The phone is thicker than the Mi 10 Pro and cannot be described as sleek according to standards laid out. However, in terms of weight, it weighs at 218g which cannot be called heavy or bulky. The device also includes a 33W USB-C fast charger in the box.
Other specifications
The remaining specifications are considered reasonable for a phone aiming to provide high performance at a low cost. It has the Snapdragon 865 processor, the 5G modem, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB or 256 GB of storage, a solid set of speakers, and a 20 MP hole-punch selfie camera. Isn’t that too great a deal? However, the camera bump on the Mi 10T Pro is too big. There is a 108 MP primary sensor, similar to Mi 10 Pro, but the lens here has a large unit which stretches across the double-wide bump.
Also, there is also a non-Pro Mi 10T variant - the only difference here is that it appears to be a 64 MP primary camera sensor and 6GB of RAM. The Mi 10T Lite is a different device altogether and comprises Snapdragon 750G, a 4,820mAh battery, and a 120 Hz LCD screen.
Takeaway
So, if we were to compare Mi 10T Pro to Mi 10 Pro, the 10T variant misses out on a sleeker design, thinner bezels, a curved OLED panel, an in-display fingerprint sensor. However, on the other hand, the 10T Pro beats the 10 Pro on high screen refresh rate and battery capacity.
The Mi 10T Pro is certainly a great Android flagship phone by Xiaomi. Thanks to the amazing refresh rate and battery life, its quad-camera array which features a 108MP main sensor and two telephoto sensors for long-distance and portrait mode shots, it is expected to be a strong rival for the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy Note 20 series, and the OnePlus 8 Pro.
It is hard to compare the two variants without having the price on hand and Xiaomi seems reluctant to share any such information right now or at the time of publishing. However, what we can say is that the Mi 10T Pro is a powerful addition to the lineup and could be worth a shot after the price is revealed.
