Galaxy Tab Active 3: The new powerhouse by Samsung
- 15 Oct, 2020
Buying a tablet seems like no easy task. With so many options out there on the shelves, you are likely to see tons of relatively colourful screens with fancy specifications. These will boast its own wide range of apps and talk about offering long-lasting battery life but guess what? Samsung has made life much easier with Galaxy Tab Active 3.
The Galaxy Tab Active 3 is a robust productivity powerhouse, offering a PC-like experience wherever your work takes you. Fun Fact: Samsung Dex is available on the device, ensuring dual-screen functionality and allowing tasks to be picked up from anywhere, whether in the office or in the field.
What do we know?
Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab Active 3 which is a new rugged tablet created especially for the tough environments. Besides the standard features such as the IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, the tablet can survive drops of up to 1.5 meters. Interestingly, it also comes backed up by Samsung’s promise to support Android OS upgrades up to three generations.
The Tab Active 3, just like last year’s Galaxy Tab Active Pro, has a few optimizations which make it easier to use with wearing gloves. The navigation buttons are physical rather than touch-sensitive, and Samsung claims that it has offered an option in the settings which allows you to make the tablet usable while wearing “thin work gloves”. It comes with an S Pen, which is also IP68 certified and it should be able to put up with water and dust like the tablet itself. Now that sounds exciting!
With respect to other basic specifications, the Galaxy Tab Active 3 seems like a standard Android tablet. It will launch with Android 11and will be powered by an Exynos 9810 processor along with 4 GB of RAM and either 64 GB OR 128 GB of storage which is expandable by up to 1TB via microSD. It supports fast-charging over USB or POGO pins, its 5050 mAh battery is removable, and it can also be used without a battery in a fixed location like an information kiosk when connected to a “dedicated power source accessory.”
In terms of camera, there is a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel selfie camera, and Samsung specifically notes that the tablet’s cameras are optimized for barcode scanning. It also comes available with LTE connectivity and a Wi-Fi only version.
What we don’t know?
The only caveat is the pricing. Samsung’s recent announcement had nothing specific about the pricing but it says that the Galaxy Tab Active 3 will be available in Europe and Asia, releasing in unnamed “select markets” and expanding to other regions at a later date. Just for reference, when the Galaxy Tab Active 2 was available for sale in the market, the Wi-Fi and LTE versions were priced at $420 and $520 in 2018, while Galaxy Tab Active Pro was a bit more expensive at $599. So, we maybe can expect something on similar lines but nothing is confirmed yet.
Samsung’s commitment to best experience and innovative solutions
The Galaxy Tab Active 3 is the latest epitome of Samsung's commitment to offering the best experience for customers across the globe. It aims to offer solutions to help organizations get down to business with peace of mind, knowing they can rely on Samsung to keep them safe and is on its road to market recognition.
Interestingly, Samsung was recently named a leader in the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide rugged Mobile Device which states, “Samsung has extensive experience in producing and designing cutting-edge mobile technology as one of the world’s well-recognized mobile device manufacturers and has expanded its enterprise and B2B strengths to meet customer demands in the rugged category. Their rugged device offerings successfully bridge the gap between industrial ultra-rugged devices and consumer-grade devices, making them durable enough to withstand a number of challenging environments while still providing a familiar and approachable end-user experience.”
