Introduction
A few days ago, Nothing introduced its first smartphone to the market, the Nothing Phone 1. The phone has a distinct style that hasn't been seen before in this market, a minimalistic software profile, and it aims to gain a fanbase similar to the Google Pixel series. Despite having several intriguing features, it is a mid-range model in terms of specs. So let's compare it to the OnePlus Nord 2T, a similarly priced smartphone that was just recently released and is today's comparison object.
Nothing Phone and Nord 2T display capabilities
If there is one area where these two differ greatly, it is in design. However, there aren't many products on the market that compare to the Nothing Phone 1. Not when it comes to the translucent components on the phone's back, at least. The Phone 1 is unique and makes a considerably bigger statement than the generic Nord 2T, despite containing an overall form that is reminiscent of an iPhone. However, you may adjust the settings on both. They both offer a slider to change the warmth and coolness as well as a more vivid/saturated option.
The Nothing display also has the advantage of being slightly larger, which gives your material a sense of being more expansive. The more dynamic of the two panels also have quicker refresh rates, feel a little brighter, and support HDR10 +.
Mediatek Dimensity 1300 SoC vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G
Moving on to performance, which is better for you here probably relies on what you intend to accomplish with it. If you spend a lot of time playing graphically demanding games, the OnePlus, which is powered by MediaTek 1300-, should provide better performance than the Nothing phone, which is powered by Snapdragon 778. It appears to be more able to support greater frame rates when playing games. To concentrate all of the RAM and processing power on the game, the OnePlus software also includes the capability of clearing background tasks. The OnePlus will perform better than the Nothing phone in 3D Mark benchmarking, but in contrast, they are fairly equal.
5G bands support in both smartphones
As they promise 5G to the public, let's start by discussing the 5G band support. It should be noted that the Indian carriers have not yet disclosed which bands they will deploy 5G on. The following 5G NR bands are supported by the Nothing Phone 1: n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n77, and n78. Dual-mode 5G can be supported by it (NSA and SA). The list of 5G bands supported by the OnePlus Nord 2T: 5G SA: 1/3/5/8/28/40/41/78; 5G NSA: 40/41/78. Nothing Phone 1 takes the lead in this situation by supporting an additional 5G band. From a distance, you could say that both smartphones support the same 5G bands.
Which smartphone clicks better - Camera battle
The cameras share the same 50-megapixel IMX766 Sony sensor in their main lenses, which is an intriguing feature. Additionally, both of them boast a secondary ultra wide lens: OnePlus has an 8MP and Nothing has a 50MP. Sometimes, the two cameras may generate images that are fairly similar at least in terms of colour but we'd frequently notice a difference in contrast. Nothing's photographs appear to be a little closer to the actual object you're looking at because the OnePlus phone tends to turn up the contrast more. In order to make it "pop" more, Nord 2T crushes some parts and makes the darker elements darker.
Glyph interface at the back making it distinct
Nothing had to think about how to design every internal component so that it would look good from the outside before decorating it with led lights. These lights are called Glyphs that could be programmed to flash in patterns that matched ringtones or used as fill lights for photography and video to achieve that. The individually ringed cameras and the front display's perfectly uniform bezel all the way around are examples of this thoughtful and purposeful design approach. It contrasts sharply with the OnePlus, which has an absurdly huge camera module and a display bezel that isn't even on all sides.
The Nothing phone has a transparent back and an iPhone-like camera module at the back in addition to a glyph user interface. The OnePlus Nord 2T, on the other hand, features a style that is reminiscent of the Nord. The velvety matte texture gives the device a premium overall sense. The Nord 2T may seem a tad dull when compared straight to the Nothing Phone 1. The phone is nevertheless reasonably well-built for its price range, therefore it would be a mistake to ignore this model because it lacks a fancy or distinctive look.
Which smartphone is right for you
The Nothing phone 1 will come with extra features like wireless charging and the Glyph Interface in addition to Snapdragon power, which is constantly in demand. It will also have a little larger display than the Nord 2T with a better refresh rate. The major benefit the Nord 2T has over its rival is that it is somewhat less expensive and supports cable charging at a considerably faster rate.
It is important to keep in mind that comparing the specs of the Nothing Phone 1 to those on paper is not entirely fair. It is a smartphone that is yet to be used. We've never seen anything like the Glyph UI on a smartphone before. Furthermore, Nothing Phone 1 guarantees there will be no bloatware. Looking at the official specifications, the Nord 2T outperforms the Nothing Phone 1 in nearly every category in terms of the total value.
