Introduction
Google recently launched its Pixel 6 series worldwide and according to the word on the street, they are now planning to introduce an affordable version of the Pixel 6 series which is called ‘Google 6a’. The mid-range segment of the smartphone is very important for any mobile manufacturer because of the number of potential customers it can target. Design and display - Resemblance with google pixel 6 & 6 pro
If the recently released leaks are to be believed, the new Pixel 6a is expected to feature a similar design as its predecessor in the latest Pixel 6 and 6 pro. The similarity in design could attract many customers to use a phone which is budget-friendly.
The pixel 6a will likely feature a 6.2-inch flat OLED display with the centred punch-hole camera on the front. The front display is expected to have a resolution of 1080*2400 pixels and 20:9 aspect ratio. While on the rear, it will have a camera strip just like its predecessors for its dual camera setup and an LED flash. There is expected to be a glass back and dual-tone finish. The bottom is expected to have a USB Type-C port, microphone, and a speaker grill. The volume rocker and SIM card slot would form a part of either side of the phone structure for ease of access.
Absence of Snapdragon & arrival of tensor chip for Google Pixel 6a
Under the hood, the Pixel 6a is expected to run on Google Tensor chipset just like its predecessors in the Pixel 6 series. It is expected to come with Android 12 out of the box with software updates for up to 3 years. The phone is likely to have internal storage of 128 GB with 6/8GB RAM, to suit the multitasking activities of the user and make the user experience very smooth and quick.
In order to provide the customer with long battery life, the Pixel 6a is expected to come up with a 4800 mAh non-removable battery. It is also said to support 30W fast charging. This would help the user to perform their important task for long hours without worrying about the draining of the battery.
In-display fingerprint scanner - First time in pixel a series
The new 6a is likely to have an in-display fingerprint scanner for authentication, a feature that was absent in the other midrange Pixel A series phones, Pixel 3a, 4a, and the 5a. This feature, if provided, could come in very handy for the customers due to its ease of access. While it is rumoured that the upcoming Pixel 6a won’t have the 3.5 mm headphone jack which was prevalent in all the previous Pixel A series phones.
