Introduction
We have entered a new era of premium mobile technology with ever-evolving advancements. Chipsets are the heart of system performance. Qualcomm has introduced a new system-on-chip for mobile phones called Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This new Snapdragon chipset that we expect to see powering a lot of the top-end smartphones in 2022 and beyond. Not just this, Snapdragon insiders get to experience the latest Qualcomm’s Snapdragon technology with a smartphone designed by Asus. This will give Snapdragon insiders access to behind-the-scenes, premium experience, and extra perks of the technology.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is synonymous with the premium experiences of Qualcomm Technologies. The chipset is known for bringing together breakthroughs in AI, connectivity, camera functions, gaming, and more. We are reaching the next wave of smartphone technology with Snapdragon transforming the flagship devices. Artificial intelligence features also remain a focus for Qualcomm. The company is partnering with Google Cloud to introduce its Cloud Vertex AI Neural Architecture Search features into the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform. The chipset will offer everything from the thrill of immersive experiences to superior performance and power efficiency. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has set new standards by delivering the premium performance that your premium smartphone deserves.
Snapdragon Insiders Ai Core is 4X stronger than the current latest phone offering
Artificial intelligence features remain a focus for Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is all about massive improvements. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 boasts ML capabilities further with support for mixed int8 and int16 precision calculations as part of the software SDK. As a result, the company states that the chip may see up to a 4x increase in performance through the combination of hardware and software improvements. The new Snapdragon processor has one ARM Cortex-A2 core running at up to 3GHz, three A710 cores and four A510 cores, giving it 20% better performance and 30% lower power consumption than the Snapdragon 888.
There is a list of AI, imaging, ML, 5G, and security improvements for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The chipset giant is sticking with its tried and tested 1+3+4 tri-cluster CPU arrangement, rather than the slightly more experimental 2+2+4 set up in the Google Tensor. However, the chipset pushes the boundaries that little further when it comes to photography or its unusual capabilities like understanding notifications. The company is also partnering with Google Cloud to introduce its Cloud Vertex AI Neural Architecture Search features into the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform.
Smartphone for snapdragon insiders with 20% faster CPU and 30 % faster GPU improving gaming performance
The all-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is built on a 4-nanometer manufacturing process and features a Kryo CPU complex. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 uses a three-cluster design for its CPU, and all the cores have been based on the ARMv9 designs. Qualcomm confirms that there is a 20% performance improvement and 30% power saving compared to the CPU setup inside the previous generation Snapdragon 888. This is possible because the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has one ARM Cortex-A2 core running at up to 3GHz, three A710 cores and four A510 cores.
Among other changes, Qualcomm has also dropped the numbering scheme from its Adreno GPU, Hexagon DSP, and other parts with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The new GPU inside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which is called Adreno, offers a 30% faster performance or up to 25% power savings. The GPU supports high-refresh-rate displays, HDR gaming, volumetric rendering, VRS (Variable Rate Shading), and raytracing. As the CPU and GPU advance, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 dazzles from a high-level overview of its spec sheet.
Battery performance is its second name
Qualcomm has never let anyone down with its battery performance. Even though there have been significant improvements and additional features, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 doesn’t compromise the power and battery. With an always-on ISP also you can keep your camera on without compromising battery life. Qualcomm has taken a big hit with its surprisingly huge battery capacity.
Connectivity improved with snapdragon 8Gen 1
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform offers an advanced 5G platform with the first 3GPP Release 16 5G solution. It facilitates content downloads in seconds and no-fuss mobile streaming, and other activities. It also lets you access more 5G networks worldwide, 5G bands, global multi-SIM, and support for all-day batteries. The platform also includes the most advanced Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, so you may be able to experience a slightly faster Wi-Fi connection on your next smartphone.
Snapdragon smartphone enhanced camera and video performance
A new always-on camera is an impressive introduction with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Qualcomm claims that you can unlock your phone without having to press a button to start a facial recognition process. They even have a dedicated bokeh engine to apply soft blur to 4K video and improved AI based-face detection capabilities that can identify up to 300 facial landmarks. Not just this, an ultra-wide engine to handle de-warp and chromatic aberration correction, video super-resolution, and capabilities to use up to 30 frames instead of six in multi-frame HDR and low light capture. The image signal processor (ISP) has also been improved on this chip with it introducing 4,096 times more camera data than previous models. All of these features are being offered to Qualcomm’s partners under its new Snapdragon Sight branding.
