- 24 Jul, 2023
Introduction
Nothing Phone 2 just arrived with a bang and showcases the mindset of carl pei that he is going to create a smartphone brand that will hover on the top by providing high-end specifications at the right price. Earlier with nothing phone 1, they were focused to capture the midrange smartphone market and they were quite successful with it. Nothing Phone 2 has some elements that ensure its entry into the premium smartphone market. With Nothing phone 2, they have introduced the 8 series flagship chipset which was missing in the last year’s Nothing phone. Get detailed information via this blog to know what is all new with Nothing Phone 2.
Nothing Phone 2 Design - Nothing is changed?
Before the nothing phone 2 launch, various leaks of the new smartphone design were seen but the actual handset is quite different from the leaks as the brand reuses the same design language. Nothing Phone fans were waiting for a new design as Nothing Phone 1 revolutionised the new see-through design for the first time in the history of the smartphone world. But still, there are some minor changes in the design language of Nothing phone 2. From the front, the front camera is now centrally aligned and on the back, the glyph lights are placed the same way but are slashed into splits for more use cases. Even the dimensions of the nothing phone 2 have slightly increased as nothing phone 1 used to come with 6.55 inches of display but the phone 2 has arrived with a slightly bigger 6.7 inches of display. The grey colour looks stunning which is personifying its unique look with visible inner components that are placed very neatly. Glass back and aluminium frame do give the smartphone a premium look.
Nothing phone 2 Display - Upgraded for good
Nothing phone 2 display has been updated as the brand increased the size from 6.55 inches to 6.7 inches with uniform minimal bezels. Apart from the screen size the brightness of the display has been increased to 1600 nits. Nothing phone 2 features 6.7 inches LTPO Oled display with centre aligned punch-hole camera. The output of the display is very punchy and the screen is also very responsive as it offers a 120 Hz of refresh rate along with a 1 Billion colours output capability. Nothing Phone 2 holds an ideal display for content consumption as the smartphone display comes with wide vine l1 support for hdr content and the screen-to-body ratio is 87.2% which is cherry on top.
Nothing Phone 2 Performance - 8 series magic
Snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 was the last year’s flagship chipset that is capable of high performance with increased efficiency and better thermals. Last year with nothing phone 1 the brand packed the snapdragon 778 5G chipset which was the first choice of all midrange smartphones but things have changed now with the arrival of Nothing Phone 2, the brand launched its second-gen smartphone with a flagship chipset because of this performance and the price both got a spike. Nothing phone 2 is priced at a very sweet spot as it is comparatively quite expensive than its predecessor but if you compare it with other brand's flagship smartphones, then it’s on the right track. As we all know the new generation smartphones are coming up with a snapdragon 8 gen 2 chipset which obviously stands upper than the 8 plus gen 1 but still Snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 is a tough contender as it still scores more than a million in antutu score and the nothing clean OS can amplify it’s performance. The price-to-performance ratio between the two makes the nothing phone 2 a great deal.
Nothing Phone 2 Camera set up - Dual support
In this price range, other brands are offering triple camera set up even some brands are offering quad camera set up but nothing phone 2 focuses on a simpler approach by providing only two useful camera sensors. Nothing phone 2 comes with a dual camera set-up in which the primary sensor is a 50MP with f/1.9 aperture and the ultra-wide sensor is also a 50MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The front camera is now upgraded to 32MP which can capture high-quality selfies even in low-light conditions. As per the video is concerned the primary sensor comes with ois which can record smooth 4k videos up to 60 fps.
Conclusion
Nothing Phone 1 was a banger because it was unique in all senses but Nothing Phone 2 should be considered as a facelift rather than a successor as there are no promising updates in the nothing phone 2. The only thing that we consider as an update is its chipset as nothing jumped from the 7 series to 8 series snapdragon chipset which is a clear notice for the brand that it will be going to enter the premium smartphone market.
