Introduction
Google has recently launched their Pixel 8 series line-up of phones. In this blog, we will be focusing on the Google Pixel 8 Pro and will try to justify why Google named this one a Pro by providing the same chipset and the same primary camera that they have provided in their nonpro model. The unboxing of Google Pixel 8 Pro is typically a flagship unboxing where you won’t get a charger inside the box but you will get an OTG adapter (which is unique) along with a type c to type c cable and sim ejector tool.
Pixel 8 Pro with Super Actua Display - The Brightest Display in a smartphone?
Pixel 8 Pro is a flagship smartphone and to be in that standard the phone should have a flagship level display. Pixel 8 Pro comes with 6.7 inches of Super Actua display which is an LTPO panel that goes from 1Hz to 120 Hz automatically to your use case. This time Google has omitted the curved display by providing a flat display in Pixel 8 Pro which is okay as most people find it difficult to maintain a curved display as their screen guards are not easily available and they are prone to accidental touches. The resolution of the front display is 1344X2992 Pixels and the peak brightness is of 2400 nits which is a big number as no other Android smartphone has this bright display. The colours on the display are very sharp and we can say it is the best display in the smartphone we have reviewed even better than the Samsung Galaxy S23 ultra. In the front, the punched-hole display is well protected by Gorilla Glass victus 2 but the only downside in the front display is the optical fingerprint sensor which is not fast and accurate.
Changes in Google Pixel 8 Pro Design
Google is trying to maintain its design language by continuing the robocop look on its back from the Google Pixel 6. There are a few changes in the design in front the curved display has been changed to a flat one. In the back, the size of the camera sensor got bigger which led to a change in the design from the back as now the grill on the back looks a bit wider. Pixel 8 Pro comes with the gorilla glass victus 2 protection and IP 68 certification. The back side of the smartphone is in a matte finish whereas the aluminium frame gets a glossy touch.
You can spot a pixel phone now all thanks to its trademark design now as brands like apple and Samsung are following this approach as well. The technical dimensions of the phone are as follows - 6.40 x 3.01 x 0.35 inches and it weighs around 213 g which is fine considering the size of the smartphone.
Magic Lies in Google Pixel 8 Pro Camera System
Here we come to the most awaited part of the blog, as Google Pixel smartphones are known for 2 things one is its software and the second is its camera performance. The Pixel 8 Pro comes with a triple camera setup in which the primary sensor is of 50MP and Ultra wide and telephoto lenses are of 48MP each. Pixel 8 Pro camera output is the result of an actual blend of enhanced hardware and software as the camera sensor size got bigger which is now capable of capturing more light and providing pictures with sharper details. The picture output of the Google Pixel 8 Pro is great as the pictures have sharp details, more dynamic range, and Google’s algorithm magic which clicks one of the best pictures ever clicked by a smartphone. The video output is also greater than ever with quality details and capable of recording 4K at 60 FPS The ultra wide sensor is of 48MP and can capture wider shots than the previous year's Pixel smartphones. Let’s dive into the Pixel 8 Pro-specific AI magical camera features that no other brand thinks of providing.
Magic Eraser
We always have pictures that are pitch perfect but they are photobombed by unknown strangers that we won’t want to share the frame with. Google Pixel 8 Pro can now solve this problem with magic eraser as now can select and erase any people or object from your photos. It works quite accurately and there is no need to have Photoshop knowledge for the same.
Face Unblur
We have many photos that are took in motion which results in blurry face but sometimes we want to keep them because of the moment. This problem can be solved by the face unblur feature which unblur the face and can remove unwanted motion in the picture too.
Best Take
While taking a group photo we always witness faces that weren’t able to pose at the right time. With the use of best take you can change the face from bursts output which works really well.
The camera makes the Pixel 8 Pro a real deal and Ai features are cherry on the top as we will be covering features like magic editor and audio eraser later and will cover all ai function features in our late blog where will be encountering the more upcoming magical features like zoom enhance and generative fill.
Does Tensor G3 Chipset solve all the problems?
With the launch of the Google Pixel 8 series, the brand has bundled the Tensor G3 Chipset which is a new-gen chipset made by Google just for its Pixel devices. The major problem with the Tensor chipset was the throttling and heating issues but with the launch of Tensor G3 the heating issues are much controlled but the new processor is on the same page when it comes to the handling of throttling. The Tensor G3 chipset scores close to 1 million in geek bench scores which shows its performance will be equivalent to last year’s snapdragon 8 Plus gen 1 which is kind of disappointing considering the Google Pixel 8 Pro Price. Google Tensor G3 chipset is a 4nm chipset with MALI-G715 which will perform decently and efficiently. As In our test we got around 6-8 hours of screen time. The most impressive thing of using Google’s very own chipset is the software support that Google can provide as they promised 7 years of software updates which makes this smartphone eligible foe 2030 as well.
