Samsung S21 Fan Edition - Most Awaited Smartphone of 2021
Are you eagerly waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE? If yes, there might be bad news for you. Though Samsung's Galaxy S21 series was only released a few months ago, but rumors regarding the delay in the launch of the Galaxy S21 Fan Edition, or Galaxy S21 FE, are already around the corner. However, once it hits the shelves, the Galaxy S21 FE will likely succeed the outstanding Galaxy S20 FE, reaching the sweet spot between price and features once more.
Global Chip Shortage - Reason for the delay in the launch?
As per the rumors in the market, Samsung Electronics Co. has halted the manufacture of one of its upcoming mid-range phones due to a chip shortfall, the latest indicator of worldwide semiconductor supply concerns. According to the claim, the Galaxy S21 Fan Edition launch is halted owing to a shortfall of Qualcomm's application processors. Samsung had aimed to launch the less expensive version of the Galaxy S21 in August but a company spokesperson declined to comment. Samsung has warned that it is dealing with the consequences of a "severe imbalance" in global semiconductor supply. As a result, the launch of Samsung's S21 FE phone may be postponed.
Samsung denies the S21 FE delays rumors
Some sources have reported that Samsung Galaxy S21 FE production has been suspended by the South Korean tech major. However, there is no confirmation regarding the same. Samsung immediately stepped in to clear the air on the situation and was forced to react and here is what it said, though it didn't provide many details. The manufacturer stated that "nothing has been determined regarding the purported production suspension," implying that there may be a problem, but that the delay is unknown.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE - Expected Specs, Price & Release date
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, the more affordable “Fan Edition” of the Galaxy S21, is expected to launch at a cheaper price than its predecessor. Some media outlets claim that the price of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will be between 900 AUD to 1000 AUD.
The Galaxy S20 FE launched last October for 930 AUD (a cheaper 4G model was also released outside of the US). If the above report is accurate, we would expect the Galaxy S21 FE to start from 800 AUD when it debuts later this year. This lower starting price compared to its predecessor also seems likely as it would keep the continuity of the S21 range.
While we are not yet sure of a specific debut date for the Galaxy S21 FE, we expect it to follow in the footsteps of its older brother, the Galaxy S21, and arrive a few months ahead of previous FE versions. According to one leaker, production will begin in July, with a launch date in August or September. This would be sooner than the release date of the Galaxy S20 FE, which was in October. However, it is very much possible that the Galaxy S21 FE could be delayed due to the global chip shortage, so pinning down a release date isn't easy.
The phone has not been officially unveiled, but new providers of the Galaxy S21 FE appear to have revealed the phone's design as well as the color variations that will be offered. Another supposed Galaxy S21 FE rumor claims the budget-friendly gadget would come with a Snapdragon 888 chipset and 6GB of RAM, which would be only a minor reduction from the Galaxy S21's 8GB of RAM. We should hear more definite facts about the Galaxy S21 FE soon, but if these rumors are accurate, it's shaping up to be a very appealing handset for anyone looking for a mid-range handset.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE: What are user’s expectations?
- No more plastic: Though the Galaxy S20 FE's plastic back was not bad, we'd have rather a glass or metal rear for the phone considering all other handsets in the same price range are managing that.
- Better cooling: Some users are already complaining that the Galaxy S21 range runs hot and gets uncomfortably warm, especially when playing graphically intensive games. We’d love the S21 FE to keep things a little cool.
- Faster charging: Samsung previously offered a 45W charger option for the S20 Ultra, but the S21 series only supports 25W charging. Even if you have to buy it separately, we'd love for the S21 FE to be the first device to support the accessory.
- More battery life: We might not need faster charging if the Galaxy S21 FE can improve on the Galaxy S21’s somewhat underwhelming battery. Based on various battery tests, the standard S21 lasted for 9 hours 53 minutes, dropping to just 6 hours 31 minutes with the adaptive refresh rate enabled. The S20 FE improved on its predecessor’s battery and we hope the S21 FE does the same.
